You've probably heard the term "web 3.0" spreading around the internet. Web 3.0 is bringing massive changes to the internet and raising it to a whole new level. Lets look at the internet's evolution over time so we can understand the paradigm-shifting changes web 3.0 will bring.

The Very First Version Of The Internet (Web 1.0)

Its crazy to think of an internet without social media as we know it. But when web 1.0 was introduced by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, Facebook and other common platforms we use today didn't exist. The World Wide Web was developed so that scientists around the world could easily share documents with one another.

Websites on web 1.0 were 'read-only' which means users were only allowed to search for information and read it. In the early years of web 1.0, prior to Google in the late '90s, the internet was dominated by companies AltaVista and Netscape. Web 1.0 lasted from 1989 to around 2003 where the next iteration was released (Web 2.0)

Web 2.0 has had a massive impact on the world over the past decades. In fact, you can start a profitable business completely online demonstrating the advancement of this iteration.

A new form of marketing was released. Audience can review businesses, restaurants, and films online affecting peoples buying decisions world-wide. The main purpose of web 2.0 was to make the internet more democratic and accessible for users.

Web 3.0 (The Future)

Web 3.0 is planned to be the new paradigm of web interaction and will fundamentally change how developers create websites. Web 3.0 is gonna make the internet and websites on the internet more intelligent by learning from received information/data to give new relevant information.

Semantic Web

Web 3.0 will help greater connectivity between data so the user experience evolves to another level of connectivity. This is thanks to semantic metadata.

Artificial Intelligence

AI allows website to filter and present users the best data possible through complex analysis and predictions.

3D Graphics

Web 3.0 is going to change the internet from a simple 2D web into a more realistic three-dimensional digital world. The 3D design is being used heavily in websites and services such as online games, real-estate industry, e-commerce and more.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Web 3.0 is the next iteration of the world wide web that uses blockchain technology to boost online connectivity, implement 3D graphics and effectively utilize artificial intelligence.
